At NET Credit Union, the safety of our employees, members, and communities will always remain our top priority. Just as you have been, we are closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Credit Union Administration, National Association of Federal Credit Unions, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s website, PA.GOV, about the evolving situation of COVID-19. We have also established an internal COVID-19 response team, composed of employees, who have the responsibility of insuring we are adhering to recommended guidelines.
We are a very strong financial institution with a great history. I can dazzle you with many statistics, but one is key: We have a 15% capital ratio. 15% might not sound like much, but in the banking world, it’s HUGE. A credit union is considered to be well-capitalized by the NCUA if their capital ratio is above 7%. We have twice that amount. What does that mean for you? It means protection. We do not know how long this pandemic will continue, and how the economy will react afterwards. But, whatever it may do, we have the ability to stay viable, open, and here for you. You can thank our dedicated Board of Directors and staff for our strong position. They’ve laid a great foundation over years of operation and uncompromised standards.
Accounts at NET Credit Union are federally insured by the NCUA – The National Credit Union Association. It operates like the FDIC, but for Credit Unions. Here is a link that defines how your accounts are insured.
NET Credit Union has made the proactive decision to restrict access to our branch lobbies, and conduct transactions through the Drive Thru. Drive Thru systems will open daily at 9AM, and at 8:30AM on Saturday. We have also allowed employees to work from home, and divided our staff into 2 teams. One team will run the branches, while the other team stays home. They switch on a weekly basis. We’re doing this to contain any potential outbreak to one team, and still have staffing to run the business. We’re also keeping ALL of our employees on payroll – no employee has been laid off. We are encouraging employees to stay home if they are sick, and we are not requiring them to take personal time to do so.
Employees are cleaning their work areas, ATM, Drive Thru containers, and other surfaces, multiple times daily, with Clorox wipes and other disinfectants. I’ve never had the credit union smell so fresh!!! We are also readily using hand sanitizer, constantly communicating to employees to wash their hands frequently, and enforcing social distancing of 6’. I feel like a hall monitor making sure employees keep their distances. We are also utilizing remote methods of conducting meetings like WebEx and phone conference bridges.
We are serving our borrowers needs with our secure online lending platform. You can check your account balances with our free mobile app, internet banking, and telephone banking platforms. You can take a picture of your checks and deposit them, for free, on our mobile app. We also offer a free bill payer platform – pay your bills remotely and whenever you wish.
NET Credit Union is also allowing members enhanced privileges to transact their banking business by calling our member service representatives. You can contact us to check balances, make a loan payment, and other services by calling our representatives. We have increased our call center staffing to better serve you.
We are keeping our ATM’s stocked. If you have a debit card, you can withdrawal cash 24/7, make cash or check deposits, and use your debit card to purchase goods and services. We also participate in a surcharge free ATM network, CU$. NET Credit Union is also developing a COVID-19 relief program, for members who temporarily lose their employment due to this pandemic. This program will be advertised soon. Highlights are as follows:
- Allowing members to skip loan payments, where applicable
- Providing an interest free relief loan, with 6 months of no payments and zero interest
- Reduction and/or elimination of some fees and late charges
- Reduction of check hold restrictions so you can have quicker access to your money
- Enhanced our call center to conduct most banking business over the phone
