Scranton, Pa, March 23, 2020- NET Credit Union donates $10,000 to the Friends of the Poor. These funds will help support their Family to Family Emergency Food Distribution Program, which helps local families who are dealing with food insecurity due to COVID-19.
Founded by Sister Adrian Barrett IHM in 1986, Friends of the Poor is now sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This charitable organization provides basic needs to our community such as food, clothing, housing items, furniture and emergency services. They also host a variety of events from senior citizen holiday dinners to children’s field trips.
Due to the recent events, Friends of the Poor distributed food to over 1,000 families in just three hours. Our donation will continue to help put food on the table for these local families. NET Credit Union values our community and continues to help. Together, we will get through this.
